In the interest of further explaining how our kinship operates, we've decided to give members of EoI a basic idea of what it takes to obtain the "member status" in game. If you're unfamiliar with our ranking structure, you can read out it here. But for those of you who wish to earn their Blue Flags, below we've compiled a list of what we look for as well as a summary that explains why our ranking structure is like it is.
Joining a Sub Guild:
The biggest step you can take towards the Blue Cloaks is to join one or more of the sub guilds within the kin that serve to help EoI in some way or another. Currently accepting recruits are the Crafting Guild and Merchant Guild, both headed by Araluan, and Recruiting and Kin Development Council, both led by Morzanx. Members of these groups work together to develop ways to supply benefits and amenities to our fellow kinsmen in various ways. Participation involves conversations in your respective guild forums, helping kinsmen with questions pertaining to your guild and most of all, just playing the game and crafting along the way!
One of the cornerstones of a thriving, active kin and something the leaders take notice of is a calendar full of events. And the key to this is a community of players willing to organize and lead these groups from time to time. While this may seem daunting or intimidating, it was for me for a long time, its actually very easy to do and Araluan and I are will and eager to help. It can be something as simple as scheduling a deed night in an area you might need to go to anyways. It could be a concert you are playing at, or planing on attending. It could be an hour or two of chasing slayer deeds (which go faster with numbers btw ;D) or offer to run kinsmen through some mindless Big Battles or leading us through your favorite instance or skirmishes. You can also consult with the Kin Development Council and be offered events both to your liking and in need of from other kinsmen. Leading is a skill that will not only make you a better player while helping EoI out, it will also help you develop that same skill in other life situations as well. Don't be afraid to try it out sometime! :)
Improving Our Culture/Kin
Another really important part of making a kin great is having a friendly environment with players who possess some good combination of being friendly, sociable, helpful, informative. Players who are active on the forums, or contribute towards the development of the website, or are otherwise deemed excellent kinsmen by Officers or Leaders may be chosen as a Blue Cloak. Gaining you Blue Flag through this manner also requires that you represent our kin well to the community (no trolling).
As you can see, becoming a Blue Cloak is essentially done by being active within the kin in at least one way or another. We strongly believe that the key to having a really successful kin lies in its members playing and enjoying the game together. The Leaders see this kin as a great opportunity to enhance our member's Lotro experience on a large scale. So we've done what we could with the limitations of the kin ranks, essentially our hope is that the extra privileges and benefits given to Blue Flags for being involved with EoI's growth and enjoying the game with your kinsmen. We will of course keep an eye on things and possibly tweak a few things here and there as needed.
Also, as many of you know, EoI does include raiding in its long-term vision, which will be released soon. One of the projects tasked to the Kin Development Council is devising multiple events ranging from all levels that both give the kin something fun to do and also direct our members in a way that best prepares them for endgame should they be interested. For example, one proposition is creating a series of deed nights that collect virtues relevant to the current endgame. We also envision a kin that can not only provide excellent gear to its members as they level, but also one that can help max out their crafting, and have an army of craftsmen available to make any essence or item needed. But we can't achieve these things without the kin helping to bring these ideas to life. So with the way we use our ranking system is meant to reward and recognize those who engage with the kin, help us achieve our lofty goals and have a blast along the way.
